I have a very good friend who I've recently re-connected with after many years. He's a big Taylor fan and just added a Taylor 12 string to his collection. We both played at a hurrricane relief show last week and I brought my Legend LX 12 string.

A few days after the show, i get an e-mail from him asking me what the model number of my guitar was. He was going out to look at one. A few days after that he told me that he had decided to sell his brand new Taylor to his friend because he was buying an Ovation.

You can't make this stuff up. :D

I didn't convert my Taylor friend, but we haven't had a chance to compare. He's in Wisconsin and I'm here. All I know is that I remind my wife that he spent $2500 on his Taylor. I can't get too much more mileage out of that.

The show went very well considering the terrible weather that night. With the contributions from the door, food and beverage sales, and some donation matching, we were able to donate $2000.00 to the Red Cross. I don't have any pics, but here are some video grabs:

On the other hand, as long as people keep a-shruggin' off Ovations, the more we can keep pickin' 'em up on the cheap! Not a bad thing!

Ummm...I don't think that the marketing people at Ovation would agree with ya, but that's one way to look at it I guess. ;)

My friend called last night and I'm happy to report that he is the proud owner of a brand new Legend LX 12 string. My evil plan worked!
