Location: Germany | Hi,
Just have a question. Can some one explant to me what is the difference between a Ukulele and a Cavaquinho which can be foungd in Brasil? They say, both instruments are close relatives. Well, the Cavaquinho has a different tuning (d-g-h-d/e) instead of (g-c-e-a), Uke has a high first string... but, can I use an Ukulele as a Cavaquinho or are they to different?
Thanks for all answers |

Location: Scotland | check the scale length. If the scale length of the Brazilian instrument is close to any of the Uke family, such as soprano, concert or tenor, then there's no reason why you could not string & tune a Uke of that type, that way. You'll probably have to mess around with string guages though |
