Hi everybody. I'm from India and have purchased a new applause AE027. I know its ovations' poor cousin but it was the most I could really afford. Still I really loved the sound both ac.and ele. But upon coming home, I realised the top is not perfectly flat. its just a little raised behind the bridge(about 1 mm) and is little dipping bet. the sound hole and the bridge. The dealer says its very normal but I'm really worried because I'm not buying another one till a really long time. Will this affect the playability or life of the guitar. Please enlighten me. Thanks a lot.

Welcome Suku!

The top is supposed to bow upward some and not under. You will find some fluctuations - especially highlighted by the gloss finish.

Is the Dealer you bought it from willing to exchange for another one?

Seems to me that Customer satisfaction should be important everywhere!

Post pictures when you can.

Also - What songs do you play?

Thanks for your replies. Exchange is quite difficult for me. there is only one dealer in India and he is 150 miles from where I live. And he also had only one ae027 which is the one I bought. Well I play a little bit of many types of music: classic rock (hendrix, santana, beatles, etc.), flamenco, blues rock, acoustic(de meola, mclaughlin, paco), and since a last few years, I have taken up indian classical vocal. I also play guitar backing lotsof Indian popular and film music. If you need any info on indian music, I'll be glad to give it. but I'm really lazy and access the net only about once in a couple of weeks. Okay bye for now.

Sorry about the problems with your Applause. I hope you can find a way to exchange it before it is to late.
It's nice to know that halfway around the world, Suku is rocking out with his Ovation.
