Anybody played one? What do you think of them? What would you compare it to....a 12 string minus the bottom 2 strings? Stephen

Over the past several years I have become very close with the designer who has his own biz now. Suprisingly ergonomic and light. Variation of sound is phenominal due to a special varitone type circuit. The later ones are no longer built by B.C. Rich and lack some of the detail of the originals. I have some originals, new ones and ones made by www.mosercustomshop.com. email me any questions you might have. I do have a newer 10-string that was actually one of the last made with the Bernie Rico mojo and it plays like buttah. I am awaiting delivery for it's replacement, so it is for sale. To answer the question about 10 vs 12, there is a difference. The 10 is designed with the doubled strings closer together than on a 12, so playing lead is easy and it just sounds like there is a little chorus or just a fat tone depending on what you are playing, amp setup and such. Also with the two bottom strings not doubled, you can actually play those strings and they don't muddy-up the sound as can happen. In other words you can fingerpick on these puppies with ease. The guitar was designed for very full rhythm, but as mentioned, leads are easy and have a pleasingly unique sound. Little known fact.. the 10-string Bich came before the 6. The design was popular in the 80's and non-10-String players kept taking the extra strings off so they started building them that way on purpose. The prototype idea came from a 10-sting Acoustic that Neal (Moser) designed because he wanted a fuller sound. Some links. Inventory (B.C. As I recall the switches were each pickup series/parallel and in phase/out of phase and the two boost on/offs. They were great guitars, I never had a Bich but an eagle and mockingbird and seagull. The supreme is the one to get of the two shown above.

You mentioned you are waiting on a replacement? Did you find a vintage one to replace the 2002? And I guess you were saying that the 2002 was one of the last made by Rico or by the Rich factory? I will send you an email to discuss the possibility of working a deal. Stephen

As mentioned in an earlier post, only two were built as the second one escaped and bit their creator resulting in his death. Sidewinders are rattlers with no rattle, so they sneak up and bite with no warning. The Ovation Sidewinder was 10 times better than a BC Rich and generally was thought to have a connection with the Devil because anybody who was bitten, died in agony. Recent circumstances have caused me to haul out their cages and reexamine their significance. Holy Cow, they seem to be of opposite genders, they have broken out and seem to have bred. I have Sidewinder ukeleles, mandolins, and a Sidewinder BANJO, all this took place while I was wasting my time on the internet. They are all looking at me with beady eyes so I am going to do the only thing possible and ship them to every email on this board. Sorry if a Sidewinder suddenly leaps out of your monitor and bites your a--, better you than me. Bailey
