I have been playing guitar now on and off (mostly off) for about 10 years now. I don't claim to be any good but I can impress my kids so that is enough for me. 2 weeks ago I bought my first Ovation. I have wanted one for a while just never got around to buying one. I played about a dozen before deciding on the CS247. I don't have an amp yet so I wanted one that sounded good unplugged. This one sounds great. I am very impress with it and it has been worth the wait. I also have a 12-string Washburn and just sold my Ibanez RG550. When I get some pics I will post them.

Interesting thing this week. I had an invite from the worship leader at my church to play during one of our Sat. night services. I get nervous playing in front of more than a few people. I can't imagine what it might be like in front of 200. I am thinking about it though.

The only one that hears your little mistakes live are your band mates and yourself...the audience will not pick up on one...and when you hit your grove...and you will...watch out...what a feeling. :D

I myself am a recent member of this message board and an owner of an Ovation Ultra GS. The people here are very nice and extremely helpful. Miles (MrOvation) has helped me out a great deal on my quest to sort of revitalize my old GS. It is still in pretty good condition as far as physical looks and sound goes, but there are a couple of pieces missing and it might be about the time that some wiring is wearing out on it. It is around 20 years old now or more. I am about to see if I can get some images posted on here of my sister's baby she handed down to me. I am pretty impressed with how this GS sounds unplugged. It is of course an electric and originally I was using Ernie Ball strings which were affordable and cheap enough for me to start out on so if I broke one, no big deal. They sounded okay plugged in, but you couldn't get hardly any sound acoustic. Then I decided to try some Fender strings on it, and there was a night and day difference. It plays fairly loud acoustic and the strings just feel a lot better to me. Anyway, hope you get an amp soon so you can really see what you've got. As most people will tell you around here, you won't really find a better sounding guitar than an Ovation. Enjoy it and I wish you much luck in your playing. ~Ed

I felt the same way and now I'm hardly aware of an audience - I'm just playing with my friends! Doing this also turns your Toy into a Tool! Then you can justify more and better Tools!

Playing with friends will advance your ability more in a few sessions than weeks of jamming alone. It will give you so many ideas that each session will provide days of inspiration and insight.
