Hello everyone. I have enjoyed checking out your forum and finally have a little time to post.
I own 2 Ovations. A 1112 Custom Balladeer and a strange misfit I can't wait to ask you about.

I also have a problem :( The heel of the neck is starting to seperate slightly from the bowl on my Balladeer and I am freaking out. I went to my local luthier and he said he could fix it for between $700 and $900! I have looked back on the forum and have not seen anyone with a similar problem. Does anyone have any experience with this? I always take care of my stuff and my O sleeps in her HSC when not being played. Please help! I have de-strung her and can't go on much longer having to play something else.

As for my misfit O, I bought it about a year ago from a woman who said her husband bought it from a friend in 1970. I is a deep bowl with a cutaway. The sound hole is smallish and offset between the neck and the side on the same side as the cutaway. The Ovation logo is proudly emblazened on the headstock and the ebony neck is nicely decorated with pearloid "batwing" markers. The top is painted black lacquer and there are 2 single coil pick-ups protruding through it! There is a small pickguard that looks like granite formica 1 volume and 1 tone knob that look like they are off an old 60's radio. There are also 2 mini toggle switches for the pick-ups. The bridge is either very dark walnut ar ebony and is a classic pin style.

I know it sounds like Frankenstein. Insid the sound hole I can see the bottom is not well finished and there is a hand-written number 20 in black marker numreals are about 1" high. There is no label or any other markings I can see. Have you ever heard of such a beast?

I will be waiting impatiently for your replies. And again, nice forum and I am looking to get to know everyone.

Andy

"Welcome to the camp...I guess you all know why we're here!"

If you can figure you how to post a pic, that would be a big help. Start at the fan club home page, go to member access, go to photo gallery, then add your pictures.

Depending on the over-all condition of the Balladeer, you might want to look into sending it back to the factory for service. Many OFC members have had work done there. They can work some real magic. I bet it would be less money also.

Thanks for the welcome. I went to the "photo gallery" and everything looks simple enough. I will post some pick soon as I can. I don't have any pics right now as I am at work. I'll take a shot at it when I get home if I can.

One other thing I forgot to mention. The back is done in a crackle finish with bright yellow under black that looks like a barbed wire effect. Psychedelic, man! Very strange! I'll get some pics up soon. Promise.

Welcome Andy
The factory can answer you question about the heel
As far as the other I'd like to see a picture. I can truthfully say that after 30 years of being in/near/around the factory I have NEVER seen anything like you described. Maybe I misunderstood your description.

I tried to take some pics just now but they didn't turn out. I'll try again in the morning with a better background.

Hi Andy, welcome aboard.

I don't guess, by chance, you are related to Mustang Sally are you?

I'm sorry, it's late we got to get home fast! No, that's not it either.

All seriousness aside, this is a great place.

Welcome Mustang

I have a 66 Fender Mustang, but have never had the Ford kind, we also have too many of the horse kind on White Sands Missile Range where sometimes they eat themselves out of grazing plants. Those are the ones I know about.

I'm anxious to see a picture of your mystery guitar, someone here may clear up the mystery.

I have been trying all day to post my pictures on the photo gallery but it's just not happening right now. I mailed some to CWK2 and I hope he can check them out. I would be happy to mail them to anyone interested just for the heck of it and I know at some point it will all come together. It always does.

Everyone I have showed this thing to goes away scratching their head. It's a strange feeling to have something that "does not exist" and never did.

It took me a few trys at the picture thing. Just one misplaced dot or space and nothing works. Don't give up.
