Woody,

Looks like a UK II to me. I am not an expert on them, but I am the proud owner of one. Looks pretty stock to me. As far as the ser. #'s being scratched off, some one did some pretty hard scratching if they got them off the neck plate. Pickups are stock UK II. I doubt it will go for $800.
Just my $.02's.
In my neck of the woods, "checkered past" means there are some things not so good in the past.

More like 1979 not 1969. Maybe the other 10 years are in a witness protection program. :D

Somehow I don't think it will go for $800 either. Somebody with zero feedback selling an admittedly stolen guitar wouldn't do a lot for my interest if I was looking for one.

Boy, can we speculate on this one! I just noticed "no shipping, will arrange for local pickup", isn't there something about shipping "hot" goods across state lines?

It is probably a 81 model. It has the new neck but still has a pickguard. I think the vintage snobs call it a "transition" model. Maybe 500 would get it?

Youse guyz OBVIOUSLY don' unnerstan the NUANCES of da' EastCoast "vernacular":

The serial number obviously got scratched off when it "fell off d'TRUCK".

Now . . . when yuzz unload the truck, y'got a guy who CHECKS everything as it comes off da' truck . . . he's the CHECKER!!

So's . . . da' guitar fall OFF da' truck,
da' cereal numbah gets scratched off,
an, da' CHECKER checks it.

End of Story.

. . . You gotta PROBL'M wid DAT???!!!
