| Hey Bill,, we just repair a slothead Adamas #33 I think. The truss rod was snapped and needed some frets. But I was wondering if you had info on its construction????
How was the headstock and heel carved and how was the neck assembled/... Very interesting guitar. By the way has adjustment and plays great now.......
I fixed the broken truss rod and Jazz Master Mike did the fret work and set it up. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | The neck blank was one piece and the peghead was carved early in the process. The heel was done separately and added on. The grafite was added on the back and 2 strips under the f/b (just like the magnum basses) I think it was just a normal for the time t-rod. My 3 are spending the winter with the engineering dept if you need to get a close look at some others.
They were carved on a little pantograph machine. Chuck McDonough carved the first ones and a master was made from that. There was a ton of hand sanding and dremmel fine tuning on the carving. |

hmmmmm . . . I wonder if this "#33" is the same as my "#20" . . . (THAT ol' "can o' worms" again! :-)
I'm also wondering what(which) this one actually IS!!)

Location: Atlanta,Ga. | Cliff, # 33 is living in Japan now.Spider bought it about two months ago.It was the only 12 string and non slothead in the batch of 34.I still have # 57 the Paul MacCartney and wings slothead. |
