Location: Warren,Pa. | Just got this '76 Legend w/ohsc for $150. Guitar needs some work...the case needs a LOT of work. It's got that black tape between the aluminum flanges, and some of it is missing. I want to remove it all, clean up the glue with some Goo Gone, and put some new tape there. Anyone know of anything readily available that I can use? John <>{ |

Location: NJ | I believe StandingO has had relative success with black cloth electrical tape. Find yourself a good reputable electrical supply outfit. HomeDepeaux tends to just carry the cheap *$&^^% . |

If the valence doesn't meet up after you've bent back into place and there's a small gap, you can put a bead of clear silicon into the grove, and that'll take up some space and make a better seal. A tube is about $5
For a major crack you can use fiberglass cloth.
I have a case question though. If the web that holds the case open is gone, how do you replace it? |

Location: Warren,Pa. | I thought of the cloth electrical tape right away, but I don't think I've ever seen it that wide. |

Location: Madison, Wisconsin | I sent some cloth electrical tape to Paul Hebert for the same repair. I sell electrical materials so it was available to me. It's 3/4" wide which should work. You might email Paul and see how it worked. |

Location: Pacific Northwest Inland Empire | That strap looks like a flat, sewn tube of velour material. It seems to have some internal webbing of some sort. I think if you put a few strands of polyethylene twine inside the cloth tube, it would work. Carefully pry the molded foam away from the shell and glue the replacement strap to the inside surface of the shell with some contact cement. That should hold it pretty well. Drilling out that rivet looks like a real pain in the derriere, and I wouldn't bother. |
