Hi All,

I just saw this on ebay and wondered about this since I haven't seen a Legend without a visable 5 piece neck before.

I am no expert, so I ask your opinions.

I have seen Balladeer's that look like this.

Can someone verify this one way or the other?

Thanks

[ /QUOTE]

If'n you look in The Ovation Archive at the 1867 in there, it appears to have the solid finished headstock (at least you can't see the five-piece like you can on the 1867 in the 'current' lineup section). Considering that this is an '87, I'd think the archive pic is closer to what he has listed than the 'current' pic. But, my eyes are old and I may be only imagining things...

It's definately a USA Legend. Ovation Legends & Custom Legends with finish #5 (black) had the 5-piece necks finished in solid black also, they may still do that. I always thought this was hiding a signature feature of the guitars and never cared for it. To add further confusion these guitars often crop up on ebay with the sellers claiming they have "graphite necks"

For the last few years, black finished custom legends have come in natural finish neck with only a black face on the headstock. I think this looks much better. Why take a beautiful 5 piece neck and paint it black?

Please go over to the poll section and vote:

Should Ovation leave all five-piece necks natural, with a silky satin finish, similar to what is on Cruster's Elite?

[ ] yes
[ ] no
[ ] I play an {Applesauce, Celibacy}

If we get enough yes votes, maybe we can influence management! Let the People's Voice be Heard!
