There's only one major disadvantage to putting your model names/numbers in your sig... it makes searching for posts about particular models useless, because you get a bunch of false positives.

Unless, of course, the UBB software doesn't search the sig... Miles?

Blandoon-

I don't believe the search engine includes sig's when searching text. I may be wrong, but I think the sig's are even dynamic; meaning, if you have a sig that says:

MySigRAWKS

And post a dozen messages, then change your sig to:

MyNewSigIsBetter

Even your old posts will have the new sig. Kind of like the avatar image is dynamic...old posts don't show an old avatar if you change to a new one, if you know what I mean.

Then again, I could be wrong. :)

Hopefully you're right - it would make more sense that way, anyway. Just the troubleshooting section of my brain working overtime... :D

I knew it! Great movie! What did he pay for that old POS? Part of a pint of whiskey 12 bucks & a two finger baggie of weed? Something like that, whatever he dug out of the pockets of that old army coat. That smile his face when that old Pontiac (?) POS actually fired up was funny as hell! When that movie was made I had some friends that could have easily been the guy that bought the War Pony. (They thought that movie was hilarious too, btw.) I used to have a really good time with those guys. It's amazing we all survived. heheh :)

My very first post, and I will admit that I am a proud owner of an Ovation 1861 Standard Balladeer with the cherry burst finish.

Welcome aboard Ignimbyte!
Why do you feel you have to "admit" to owning an Ovation? I look forward to reading what your like about your Ovation and Martins.
You will learn alot about Ovations in a short time.
The archives are very helpful.

Replacement rosette almost finished on the 1121. If you REALLY want the whole story on how my critters got their names......but fair warning, it's a dark & twisted tale, straight out of the 19th century "bughouses". You didn't think my occupation was mere coincidence, did you?

Thanks Brad (Slip Kid) for the warm welcome. Maybe, I wasn't thinking straight at that time when I "admit" to owning an Ovation (oopss...). I actually meant it in a very good way. Since way back when, I've owned quite a few guitars that came and went. But the ones I really desired the most were Ovations and Martins. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford it at that time ... and it's funny to think that I still must admit to that -- especially when thinking of the high-end Ovations and Martins!

Nevertheless, the years of waiting finally paid off, and I am thankfully blessed of not just owning one, but both an Ovation and a Martin. It may not be the favorable elite or custom legend or the desirable D28 or OM-28, but in my book, they're the best pair I ever have. As for my Martin-Sigma, it is the only guitar that survived my college years of abuse and neglect (in addition to msic playing). Due to the sentimental value and the years of partnership that I have/had with it, I decided to keep it.

Thanks again for the welcome, and I look forward to knowing more about Ovations ... and some! :)

Only thing I have left besides my Fender electrics is an Applause classical AE-34. My wife owns a Takamine steel string also. Someday I hope to re-aquire some of my lost axes. Used to have a Gretsch Super Chet, Ovation Deacon and a Viper some years back. :(

Thanks for this list. Next time my wife complains that I have too many guitars, I'm pulling it out.

Damned if one of the guys I was talking about didn't bring his Blazer in to the body shop Monday! Haven't seen him in at least fifteen years. We both have a lot shorter (& grayer) hair, but we recognized each other. We've also both cleaned up our acts considerably. :)
