Location: Carle Place, NY | Ethical issues notwithstanding, yesterday I went to the local GC (Carle Place, NY) to try out an Elite 1768T. This particular store is very low key and they allow you to play any guitar there without pressure or obligation. I never thought much of the "T" series mostly because of the unadorned appearance-plain sound holes, no binding, textured finish front and back. Frankly, I was amazed with the acoustic sound. It looked like it had light gauge EXP's on it. I then played it side by side with an Elite LX that appeared to have the same strings and to my ear, the 1768T sounded fuller and brighter. I wonder if the fewer sound holes makes a difference. The 1768T is probably the best bargain in new O's out there. I see that Al has a demo one listed for $550. GC's sticker was $799. If I can free up some cash, you might be hearing from me soon Al. GAAASSS attack! |

Location: Tampa, Florida | 1778T is a great guitar. The unplugged sound is a lot fuller than any other O's I have played. As much as I love it, I have decided to sell it on ebay.

I have 3 Ovations right now (7 guitars total)and am selling two of my O's, along with my Applause uke and a Martin LXM to raise money for a high end acoustic (Breedlove, Collings, Santa Cruz, CA Guitars). I'm keeping my Elite LX (love the neck), selling the T and the Legend LX. I think I ahve too many guitars and if I combine 3 of them into one superb one, it will get the attention it deserves. I just don't have the time to play all these guitars! |

Location: Carle Place, NY | Hey zchord, it was your listing in eBay that prompted me to check out the guitar at GC (ethical issues, blah, blah blah). I agree that the neck on the 1768T, although very nice, is not as comfy as my old 1619's. I did like the acoustic sound though. Very balanced. |

Location: Las Cruces, NM | I have to say that I have been a great fan of the theory of the 1778T. A guitar with the sound of $2000 acoustics for around $600. Sacrificed some trim for a great sound at a reasonable price. Turned out to be a pretty unique good looking guitar.
