Location: Fayetteville, NC | Well at least he's accepted responsibility for his own actions. Hopefully this has taught him a valuable lesson. I'm still a GC fan. Like most i was disappointed by his arrest. But everybody makes mistakes. I hope he can finally put some of his demons to rest. |

Location: Las Cruces, NM | Jail is a little rough on a guy pushing 70, I'm sure he will survive and shouldn't be drinking and driving. He still is one of the best guitar players in the world, and one of the most recognizeable singers, thank the powers that be that he is still around. Many of our guitar gods are not.

Glenn is great, maybe now he'll stay off the sauce & get back into his music, that would be the best thing for him & the rest of his fans as well. He'll look like a new man pretty soon, I hope.

TEN DAYS (and he's only "IN" for 12 hours each day) in probably what amounts to be the Phoenix Days Inn with bars on the windows with absolutely no interaction with the rest of the facility's population. It's not like this guy's been a "model citizen" previous to this, and it's nowhere NEAR what Juan Q. Public would be getting under similar circumstances.
Tommy Chong is spending months in the slammer for a first offense charge of selling hand-blown glass "bongs" from a card table at the end of his gigs, while this clown spends a week in a jumpsuit picking old Coke cans out of the bushes in some park after repeatedly being a potential road menace and assaulting a cop (who should've "clocked" him). |

Location: Houston, TX | I don't think I'm ready to congratulate this guy for standing up and taking responsibility, or praise him at all. The comments I saw to the judge and reporters just didn't seem sincere to me. He told the judge that "Glen Campbell has poured the last bit of drink down his neck". Well, we will see. I saw a clip of him last night telling reporters that he wasn't "drinking all weekend" when the arrest occured - he had just gone to practice hitting some golf balls and had only 2 rum & cokes, and that was all it took to make him black out. Bullshit, I say. Taking responsibility? Didn't sound that way to me. It really sounded more like a weak cop-out excuse.
I could be wrong. I wish him well. |

Location: SoCal | I've been a huge Glen Campbell fan for over 30 years. The talent this guy has is incredible. But until he admits he's an alcoholic and makes moves to change, then he's going to be making the same mistakes over and over again.
I saw him in Reno almost 20 years ago when he proclaimed that he had quite drinking. Obviously, he hadn't. I feel sorry for him (with some disgust mixed in) and his family. I doubt that the problem has been addressed or solved.
I hope I'm wrong. |

He has way too many resources and protections to necessitate him "gettin' his mind right". Unfortunately, it may require a greater cataclysm than this superficial correction. When he publicizes his entry to Betty Ford Center, that will be a good start- but no guarantee of cure.
I remain a devoted fan. But, as a healthcare professional, I remain skeptical. |

Location: Vernon, CT | Glenn Campbell maybe a great guitar player but he's a U.S. citizen like the rest of us. He needs AA and broke the law for DUI and deserves to be punished like anyone else...community service is the easy way out. Before he killed an innocent family on the road he was caught. To me no praise is warranted only that I hope he will learn his lessons and once again become a productive member of society. Whether or not that involves playing guitar is only something he can answer. Play On!

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada | While I don't think excuses should be made for driving under the influence, it should be recognized that drug and alcohol abuse are often attempts by individuals to self-medicate to fight off a common mental illness - depression. Over the years I was prescribed all kinds of anti-depressants (at one point I was on two different ones at the same time!), and I finally weaned myself off them because - well, it's hard to put into words, but I just didn't feel like I was the "real me."
I now rely on strenuous martial arts workouts to try to stay on an even keel. It doesn't always work, but one thing that does help: putting a fresh set of phosphor bronzes on my Elite and spending an intimate hour or two with that baby. |

Location: Tennessee | Let's hope this "first" offense provides a wakeup call, and doesn't turn GC into a bitter old man. As far as the sentence goes, it is no mere slap on the wrist. His sentence is consistent with those of a couple of acquaintances in very similar circumstances. They, too, got jail time with work furlough, and community service hours along with loss of driving privileges and extended probation, with the resisting/assault charges dropped. This time it appears that, despite the celebrity, justice was blind.
I believe Tommy Chong was actually busted for interstate commerce of drug paraphernalia resulting from his mail order business. It was the federales who got him. |

Location: Huntington Beach, CA | As a performer, Glen Campbell brought joy to a lot of people. I found him thoroughly entertaining and enjoyed his summer continuation of the Smothers Brothers show.
Like everyone else, he'll march to his own drummer and we can observe and comment... and judge. From my perspective, he adds color to the world, even in his failures. A different color than we have been accustomed to maybe, but still adding to the mural we see being created day by day by all those fascinating people that we are exposed to, family, friends and perfect strangers included.
Doesn't sound like hard time for Glen but this may impact him such that we will get some of the best music he's ever done. Seems like desperation breeds creativity like nothing else.

| ...lets see here, he gets 10 days jail time cut in half....a couple weeks community service....2 years probabtion which he may very well have suspended in 6 months....but honestly the worst part could be the detriment to the release of his new album and future concert attendance...he is still extremely wealthy (no excuse) so his attorneys could have stretched the legal process indefinitely and cost the state of arizona more time and money, so they may have all had to compromise on this one...
