Does anyone know of a source for the individual pole pieces used in the Roland (and others) midi pickups ? I would like to make a pickup that would match the string spacing on a Folklore.
I have an Ovation Folklore (steel string , for finger style) but the standard Roland GK-2 midi pickup is too narrow for the wider spaced strings on the Folklore.
I have worked for years in the aerospace industry, potting, machining and soldering small electronic devices, and feel competent to try this , if I could just find the parts.
Thanks for your time, and have a nice day

Ovation produced a guitar synth based on the Shadow GTM-6 which used a standard Ovation bridge transducer wired hexaphonically. If you are prepared to use a pitch to midi converter which will trigger from a piezo it may be easier than trying to manufacture a magnetic pickup. Shadow produce a 6-way piezo which will work in an Ovation bridge. Making a magnetic pickup probably will not be too much of a problem, making a reliable connection to a 13-pin cable, unless you have parts to cannibalise, could be. |
