I really love my Adamas but I've always wondered why that technology was never applied to creating a nylon string version.

I know there are some guys here who have worked at Ovation, perhaps they could shed a little light or if anyone else has any insights they can share, please do.

Actually, I have a true Adamas nylon string (true - meaning wolven graphite top, not wooden top), it looks identical to the steel string counter part except a wider (classical style) neck, slotted head with a truss rod cover similar to the custom legend, classical style string through rectangular shaped bridge. The model # is "XSC-8 Proto", -8 means blue and that's all I know. Anybody else knows anything about this guitar, please shed some light. Thank you!

This was discussed once before. The word from SeeDoubleYouTwo was that the nylon strings never really drove the top enough acoustically although plugged in it was fine. In the early 80's Glen Campbell played a blue super shallow bowl nylon string with a country artist neck on it. Very cool guitar.

Playadamas, I'd like to see a pic or two of your guitar if you'd care to post on the board or email it to me.

We here at the plant have no say as to what gets made, but if you like it we wanna build it, just the way you want it, everytime, ontime and with a little help from engineering.

moody, p.i., I uploaded the pictures (http://www.ovationfanclub.com/gallery/adamas2.jpg).

Notice the interesting placement of the volume control on the top, there is a separate tone button on the side at the usual place. It's shallow bowl.

We exhanged some emails on this a year or two ago and you sent me some pics of your guitar then along with the story of how you came by it.
Great guitar and great story.
What's the unplugged sound like with this guitar?

Unplugged sound... it's on the bright and staccato side, I used it to play flamenco like or pop tunes, the problem is I can't tap on the top like I would need on a real flamenco tune. It's definitely not very suitable for traditional classical pieces. It lacks sustain and warmth (typical of a shallow bowl) until you plug it in. Honestly speaking, it's more of an interest piece than a great sounding guitar.
