Location: Phoenix AZ | Mr. UPS just delivered my FD14 Folklore Deluxe. I played it all of 10 minutes and I can tell you this is one sweet animal. Cedar top, deep bowl, no cutaway, 12 fret clear. It's just great. Plays like butter. The tortoise shell inlays and binding look really cool. I'll post a pic and give a more in-depth review as I play it more, but my initial impression is A+. Interestingly the Ovation site says they built 100 of these, but mine is numbered 34 out of 50. Anyway, I feel lucky to have it. Dave

Location: Phoenix AZ | It's a steel string 1-3/4 nut. I'm anxious to see how it is plugged in. It has a direct pre-out (no on-board preamp). Jack is in the end pin.

Location: Scotland | Dave, "Direct out" doesn't mean no preamp. The Folklore Deluxe has a preamp but no volume or EQ controls, presumably to keep the size & weight of the electronics to a minimum. We got a close look at a the new Folklore at NAMM, very impressive, despite the noise of the show the example on the Kaman stand sounded great. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Thanks Paul for the clarification. That would explain why there is a battery holder. Nice touch that they put the battery holder door near the end pin out of the way. Everything about the fit and finish of this instrument is spot on perfect. Yes folks they do build some damn nice guitars up there in the northeast. The acoustic sound is stunning, very bright on top which I contribute to the thin cedar. I also think being a 12 fret clear design adds to this by moving the bridge farther away from the sound hole. The bottom end is massive, no doubt due to the deep non cutaway bowl. It's just an absolute pleasure to play. I have not compared it anything else in the house yet because I can't bring myself to put it down. Dave |

Location: San Francisco, CA | Yeah, the new Folklore looks really good & seems to be a good choice for brand new Ovation.
It's been selling for around $1300 (MSRP $2200) & could be had for around $800 on eBay in a year or two :-) I could wait 'coz my 1537 just sounds incredibly good.
