Location: uk | Hi, I've just got an old Ovation accoustic, I 'think' it is a Balladeer custom, the model number on the big metallic sticker thing inside is 1112-1 and there is a sticker at the neck joint with 031329 on which I assume is the serial.
Any views or info on this model would be much appreciated, date, soundboard material, differences between this and other balladeer models from the same era ????
thanks in advance

Location: Scotland | Sunburst Custom Balladeer from '74. Same as a standard Balladeer except slightly fancier inlays & chrome rather than nylon tuners. Cross-braced sitka top. Nice guitars. |

Location: St. Petersburg, FL USA | Mike, I've got a 1612 sunburst. If I read the spec charts correctly, seems the only difference is yours doesn't have electronics (pure acoustic) like mine does. I've had it for 20 years, and still love it ('83). It just got its first fret dressing / neck adjustment, and it plays better now than it did brand new. I think the tone of these babies is just a little superior to the garden-variety Balladeer, IMHO. Looks like you've got a real "keeper." Enjoy! |

Location: uk | Thanks, I'm trying to decide if I should keep it or sell it as I've also just bought a Gibson accoustic - maybe I'll keep both ! |
