Location: Canada | I know this is somewhat off topic, but I've bought many Ovations off Ebay using paypal so it does play an important part in the trade. Does anyone know what the changes have been made to the new user agreement? |

Location: NJ | Since I have been in business before pay pal I have my own credit card service. I have heard nightmares about pay pal also and have also known people that deal with them successfully.
What is amazing to me is when I started e bay and took credit cards I was considered ligitimate. Now i get people that e mail me and say they think I am suspect because I do not take pay pal. I can't win here!!!!! |

Location: Zion, Illinois | I've used PayPal a few times without any problems, but I've never given them my bank account number, something they constantly ask for.
If you look at some of the ads on E-Bay you can see many sellers who quite angerly state they they will NOT use Paypal.
Now I know why. Thanks

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | I find with PayPal, like most other things, if you read the directions, and follow instructions there are few if any problems. I use PayPal almost exclusively for buying and selling for about 3 years. I have had no problems. They did block access once to my funds because after a long period of non-use, I went in, changed my password, then sold a high-dollar item, and immediatly took the money out. Although it initially ticked me off, all I had to do was send some id info to them. They were concened someone (possibly terrorist) has stolen my ID and used PayPal to move money. I found this to be comforting, and ther was no problem with folks still adding money to my account via saled during this lockout which lasted only a day or so.
Also, those "hidden" paypal charges are the lowest in the industry. The industry standard is 30 cents per, plus 3%... PayPal is 30 cents plus 1.8%.
It's not perfect, nothing is. But I use it even outside of eBay to transfer money to and from offline sales, or to and from family. Also, I have used their shopping cart features which ARE FREE and it's fantastic. I set up an entire online store, with separate shipping for non-continental US orders and such in about 30 minutes.
By the way I read the NOPayPal site. A lot is true but the rate info is wrong. However, the "policy" stuff like making the support number hard to find, and the funds garantees (or lack thereof) are pretty standard for any credit card or bank. At least any I have worked with or set up. |

Location: San Bernardino, California | One of the things that I did when I started buying online was set up a separate bank account just for online purchases. I transfer a little more than needed to the "online" account to cover my purchases. Don't know that it's needed, but it makes me feel more secure.
I also got another credit card with a real low limit. Not very trusting am I. |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | The "isolated" account for online transactions is one of the best security precautions one can take. Not just for PayPal or Ebay, but one account for ALL online transactions. Very smart.
I'm guessing you can't use PayPal to pay Ebay because they'd be charging you to pay your bill. PayPal is owned by Ebay. But that's just a guess. Seems they could work around that. |

My beef with them is that they don't advertise the fact that on overseas transactions they convert currency at several points below base. That coupled with their basic charges, which themselves seem reasonable, means that a UK seller dealing with US customers gets a real raw deal |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | If you go to www.PayPal.com, click user agreement on the bottom of the screen (no need to log in) and then from there you can also view the old user agreement. I read them awhile ago and although I don't remember specifics, I do remember the new one made a little more sence and is easier to navigate which are two of the reasons noted for the update, but there are some changed too. |

Location: Seattle, Wa | I've seen some ebayers add the percentage paypal charges back into the sale, which seems fair if you want to use that service. I use them a lot and have never had any trouble. They've been very up front with me and I like the ease of the system. |
