I am totally ignorant but, it seems like stealing a slice of life: you have a "virtuoso" IN THIS CLIP who has spent countless hours mastering a fancy joy-stick when he coulda been playing for real. Am I missing something?

But my hope is that many of these kids will eventually tire of the game and move on to the real deal. Last night one of the news shows did a story on guitar hero with the spin that it was connecting parents and kids because so many of the songs are the old classics. They even had Joe Perry of Aerosmith and his son on. Joe admits that he plays the game but his son always kicks his butt ...

Slash) You're playing a "game" that EMULATES playing guitar, but having the necessary skill(s) to PLAY a guitar is a "handicap", and instead of attempting to INSTILL those skills, you invest time/energy in developing/honing a DIFFERENT skill-set that has absolutely NO value whatsoever when (if ever) the stupid thing is switched "off". Basically, the musical equivalent of JunkFood. (do they list "High-Fructose Corn Syrup" anywhere on the box?? . . for what it's "worth", they SHOULD).

(cranky old bastards) I played one of those games, I think it was the one with a whole band because my buddy was playing psuedo-drums while his teenson and I were playing psuedo-guitars. They both kicked my butt. The kid can't play guitar. My buddy can't play drums. (but he was a decent piano player decades ago) It's an Apples and Orange juice thing. I found the game boring....but I'm like that with things on which I display no instant natural ability. Y'kin enjoy a poker OR a bridge tournament, but don't try to say which is "better." ![]() Some of us might be a little P.O.d because our skills (?) on guitar don't translate to the game. Just like it's not that hard to skin a bridge player who thinks he's smarter than the poker players at the table. ;)

I see several a day mentioning their lack of skill vs their superior video guitar skills. jack
