Did they write their own music? Does anyone know the facts of The Monkey Band or just their hairdressers. I kind of liked them back then , more for their humor( or lack of it ) than their music. While no virtuoso, he did play his instrument, write his own songs (and Different Drum for Linda Ronstadt) and made his own records. Besides music, he has done a lot of very cool things and impacted modern culture in a lot of ways. Music Videos. Home Videos. Not to mention Repo Man.

Another bit of trivia Huey Lewis' grandfather invented the red wax used to seal cheese. I too liked Mike Nesmith. Deb was apparently in love with Davey Jones  AJ

Not only was he with the Doobies, but he co-founded the country group Southern Pacific (which had several hits). He was in that group with former members of CCR and Pablo Cruise. I think John is back with the Doobies now - not sure though. Only interesting Monkees fact is that Stephen Stills auditioned, but did not make the cut.
