My O's all sound great (in different ways) in the lower register: Legends 1117 1769-ADII and Adamas 1581-5. But they are VERY different on the TOP TWO strings, Frets 5 on up.

Question: Which of your O's has top-register power to match the bottom? So far, I'd have to hand the prize for sheer punch and BALANCE to the 1117.

No one plays above Middle C?
Not ONE guitar with special punch on TOP?

I was playing Time in a Bottle on the 87C last night. Usually it buzzed up there, but the current climate must be good for it. The high notes sounded just as clear as the lows.

My SSB Custom Legend is wonderfully equal across all strings across all frets. I think the relative lack of bass out of the ssb is the reason, but better brains than mine can answer that.
The utes are very good, but with the wimpy strings I use it's probably not a fair observation.

I absolutely LOVE the lower end of my Adamas 1581. It also has some punch above fret 12. HOWEVER, I am struggling with a "dead spot": frets 5-8 on the top two strings. Even EQ can't quite level it out.

On all three of my guitars (2080,2008C,1537) the low E and to some extent A strings seems to get dead/flat sounding above the 5th fret. The top(higher) 4 strings retain a lot of their engergy in the upper registers. My only real complaint is the low strings.

No cutaway.

You actually HAVE a TrebleBout.

I suspect that I have some truss-rod, fret, bridge shim work to do on the Adamas. Oddly, though the Al Diemola signature (1769 AD II) does not match the punch of the 1117 legend above Middle C. Not sure why: Al was supposed to have "improved" the bracing etc. etc.

Example in a tune we play called "Fantasia Suite" I have to hit a note on the high string, the 17th fret. It absolutely SCREAMS on the 1117, but is soft on the Al Dimeola sig. Hmmm...
