Location: Brisbane Australia | You have SelecTrucks, the used division of Freightliner Corp, dealerships in the US.
Selling trucks is how I earn my living.
Something I have to admit is that I generally can't stand trucking songs.
And our company sponsors a country band here called "Ruckus"
I sure don't tell my customers though.

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | Thanx GWB. Back in the Dark Ages, before cell-phones and 40 Channel CB's with side-bands, I did alot of hitch-hiking. Mostly at late at night, cuz that's when the Long-haul truckers were out.
Eating crossroads, dexies and black mollies.
They would put-up with a long-hair just to have someone to talk to...
"Here hippie, eat these. You ain't going to sleep. I want you to keep me company."
In them days, their company would give them $60 to pay the 'lumpers' to unload their trucks. $20 apiece for three workers. We'd split the money and do it ourselves. That was back in the '70's when you could actually buy something with $30, and a motel room was $6!
All them truckers Back East used to listen to WOWO outta Fort Wayne, Indiana. At night it was 'Clear Channel' AM radio that with a good radio you could pick it up anywhere east of the Mississippi except Maine and Miami.
That was Trucker Radio and they played all that Red Sovine music, and other ol' Trucker Country that you can't find anymore. Merle Haggard, Ernest Tubb & Lester Flatt, old stuff on 45's and 78's... Plus send Anniversary & Birthday messages out the the Wives and Kids.
Thanx for reminding me of one of the cooler parts of my wayward youth. |

Location: East Wenatchee, WA | I spent a lot of time in the cab of a truck with my Dad who drove short and long haul in my youth. Red Sovine was a staple (still remember playing the 8 track in the 65 Olds 442 when we went looking for "victims" on main street).
Lot of good memories with "Trucker" songs. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Anybody who drove through the night back in the 70's and 80's with a CB always listened to the truckers, and we always had at least one 8-track tape with all the trucker songs. CW McCall and Red Sovine were my favs. I did, however, leave the tapes in the truck. They didn't work well on the dance floor. |
