Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | I previously asked this in another post with a different title, so it will likely become buried. I'll be more direct. The model year is 1996. There is a relatively subtle darkening burst toward the edges that barely shows in the photo. The closest current color might be New England Burst, which has much more variation than this Viper. The flame maple top is very deep. Any ideas?

| The model number of this guitar is EA68-VY, and the official color listed in promotional literature for Ovation dealers is "Vintage Flamed Sycamore". It was advertised to be a run of 100 instruments.
Other advertised colors available were Blue Tamo Ash (EA68-BTA, limited to 65 pieces) and Sunburst Chestnut. |

The EA-68 was available in 1996 and 1997 in this color.

The top on the guitar in question is listed as "Curly Sycamore", not maple.
The EAB68 4-string bass was available in Cherry Cherryburst, Natural and Black. |

Location: Minden, Nebraska | Very cool. It isn't the orange I have seen on a couple of EA-68s, unless that is a feature of the lighting. Both of those were Vintage Sycamore models. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Paul, the color in the picture above is dead on except that in reality, there is slightly more variation in the burst than appears in the picture (sans the reflections). I think it might be just a bright version of Vintage Flame. |
