Location: Warren,Pa. | I just finished re-stringing the Pacemaker (I REALLY don't like that name any more). To do it right, you need LOTS of winding so that the strings don't hit the center of the headstock. This means too much winding for these old hands.
I have a regular winding tool someone gave me at the last tour, but these tuner buttons are minis and REALLY close together so the tool hits the buttons on either side of the one I'm winding.
Anyone know of a winder for minis that you can put on a straight cordless screwdriver? |

Location: closely held secret | John, just a shot in the dark. It seems I remember the guy at the factory who did the stringing and final testing on the O side had something similar to what you're talking about. Why not give John Budny or Kim Keller a call or email and find out where they get them? |

Location: South of most, North of few | bauerhillboy, I just did my 1115 with one of those cheap winders I found at a local music store for about 2 bucks. I didn't have a problem with clearance. Maybe the winder I have has a little more relief between the crank and the socket. You might try to just turn the two buttons on either side 90 degrees to the one you are tightening untill it is close, then do it by hand. |

Location: NJ | I have one of the PlanetWaves "hand-crank"-style winders (with the built-in string cutter) and it does both regular and mini-style buttons without a problem. I'd thought of one of those electro-crankies, but it'd end up as just one MORE thing in an already too-heavy GigBag . . . |
