I'm half amused at how myth's arise, and half heart broken that I can't afford to buy it back.
Long story short, this guitar was custom built for me, not Joni (hence the 'JM' inlay). I was forced to sell this guitar 20 years ago and have wondered about it ever since. Interesting that it has ended up in the Virgin Islands. I sold it here in Tennessee.
I also have a custom built Legend that is this guitars twin... with the same headstock, bridge and fretboard inlays.
Man I'd like to have this back but at least now I know where it is!
I guess I should drop the seller a note...

| I should not try and be funny here I do know how you feel, I had Al order me up a great Jack Blades 8 string bass copy from Hamer a couple a years ago. It was the best sounding and playing bass and I felt like a fool for having to sell it. Financially it was just the way it went that year. I hope I run into mine one day when the timing is right and I can get it back. Good luck...personally I'd say the od's of you finding that guitar again are very slim. I'd hock something to get it back if you want it. |

Hell I probably could have gotten a lot more for it if I'd come up with that Joni story. Then again I wouldn't have slept well for the last two decades.
I did drop the seller a note and while I'd like to get the twin's back together, I doubt there's much hope. |

Location: big island | when the seller discovers JM does not stand for joni mitchell, the selling price should drop dramastically. not that jonmark isn't a notable musician... |

Someone may very well find the guitar worth that price, but certainly not because I owned it. It's actually very unique. The pics don't do it justice.
Nutmeg finished spruce top, CL fretboard and rosette, and the custom inlays are very pretty... right down to a hand inlaid abalone Ovation logo.
I'm doing a neck refinish on the 6 string at the moment.
I'll post pics when I'm done.
