I am about to make the step up and buy a new ovation instead of used, which I have now 4 times. I found a new 1778 LX Elite for about 700.00. First question, is that a fair price? Next, does this guitar sound good unplugged, which is what most of my playing is, or is it mostly for amped situations?
Thanks, Jim.

As an Owner of a 1778LX (paid more than $1000 in 2003) I can tell you that it is excellent both unplugged and plugged in.

This is a very nice line of instruments.

The guitar sounds great in any situation, and $700 is a steal. I bought mine for $900 a few months ago.

The price is definitely fair, and if it is being sold as new, hopefully you have a trial period, if so nothing to lose.

btw: Mine is awesome, I'd jump on it!

OK, thanks for the replies. I did get it before someone else snatched it up, and it should be on the way soon. This guy is a dealer in Conn. that is getting out of the Ovation business and is selling off his stock. He has a 2006 KOA for sale also for only $1000.00. He has it listed on Ebay now, but if you call Steve at 868 887 1457 you can use a buy it now for 1k.
