Didn't see it, but a cow-orker told me it was centered around World of Warcraft or some such online game. Was it any good?

As a once MMORPG gamer, let me be the first(last?) to say WoW sucks in comparison to eq2.

I don't watch South Park though. They crossed the line for me a while ago. But they occasionally can be funny to me... like the cops random quotes "T.... T is for Turtle... Nananana."

the south park was hilarious. About half of it was actual game footage of WoW.

Someone, not me, might have just gotten it off Bittorrent. Maybe I...uh, he'll watch it later. I could never get in to the MMORPG thing, as much as it intrigued me. All that level grinding seemed like a waste of time.

This is replaying on Comedy Central all this week at various time. It was astoundingly funny.

My son played extensively WoW for the last 2 years achieving a level 70 something or other (this was pretty impressive though) I spent many afternoons hanging out in his bedroom watching run campaigns with other guys talking over Ventrillo.

The South Park guys totally got it and made fun of all the best and worst aspects of the MMORPG environment and I loved the WoW animation scenes.

One of my cow-orkers is addicted to MMORPGS. He was playing Evercrack way too much, then switched to WoW. Which he also played way too much. Now he's back on Evercrack (I, not II), playing five boxes at once.

Some of us think he may have a problem. I'm glad that my addictive personality is offset by my ADD.

I met Trey Parker while he was attending Evergreen High School in Colorado. I was choreographing Grease and he was the lead. What many people don't know about him is that he is classically trained on the keyboards and is very good, or was 18 years ago.

The sad thing is that the general consensus at 'ork is that that dude looks like the twin of our resident MMORPG-aholic.

It's like the Matrix in reverse. All these kids are in a different reality having their brains sucked dry. Instead of living their lives they are decompensating into these gaming nerds. They should hang out at the OFC board. It would be better for them.

South Park is superb social satire if you can just get past the fart jokes. (okay, bedpan jokes in this case...) It leaves no sacred cow untipped.

I heard that there are some entrepanuers that have "schools" set up in China and elsewhere where kids sit in front of computers that have bots setup to play some of these games. The kids interact when someoene online asks a question. The owner of all the accounts then sells the online "coins" and other baubles that normal players have to earn, but he sells them for REAL money. There is also someone that sells "virtual" real estate. Appearently it's no "sweat shop" for the kids either. Because of the pc's and the money involved, it's a reasonable environment, and as the kids need to really interact sometimes, they get paid well enough.

simply amazing.....

Actually, from what my nephews say, the kids who work in these gaming centers don't get paid very well, but it's better than having no job. I guess it's good training for flying one of our unmanned robot plane drones over iraq.
