Since the order of the day lately has been obvious opinion differences in members, and as this IS a privately-owned site, I thought this might be a more constructive way to offer a group opinion to the powers that be...

..we'll see. :D

Please understand, this is not targeted at anyone in particular - I'd like to be able to provide the general thoughts of the OFC on this topic, as it has become rather obviously divided of late.

Interesting questions. I went no for both. That said if it becomes frequently used by others an element of competition will arise. So that we all don't have to deal with the uglyness that can come from that conduct guidelines should be agreed upon.
Actually now Al doesn't do any more than say, I'm a dealer and contact me outside of this and we can talk there. I believe that there are a few other dealers (Perhaps that term is used loosely here) that operate pretty much the same way. This is not a dealing site, it's informational, right?

Understandedly; however, there is an opinion that may affect the thoughts of those whose debate it is...just offering that free food for thought.

I don't think this is good use of the polling feature.

I don't really care one way or the other, provided that the site doesnt become cluttered with sales advertising and pop up windows. It doesnt seem to be problem now using the seperate Sell/Trade forum.

I have to agree with the Woodster.

I think I'll abstain.

The only reason I would vote on this at all would be to see the results and I don't think that should matter to me. I guess I find it interesting how quickly people seem to polarize these days.

Think I'll think about the music...

As a consumer, I'm afraid my great resources aren't going to enrich too many pockets, but I truly appreciate the fact that should I need someone to help me acquire another O, there are people on this site whose reputations are impeccable, with whom I will never have to worry about the integrity of my transaction. This is invaluable to me. My thanks to our resident acknowledged dealers for the opportunities (and discounts) with which you provide us, and to everyone else who also aid and abet those of us with that syndrome peculiar to the acquistion of more guitars.

Dealers? Man, dealers and pushers are the scum of the earth....and diggers are s**t!

oh, sorry. Wrong decade!

This topic is for Al and Miles consideration only, and theirs is the only one that matters in this case. They seem pretty open about the whole thing.

Andrew, honestly I think this is out of line. Who am I to say so, but sorry that's what I feel. Nothing personal against you, my friend.

There are dealers among our membership who have differing opinions how their business should be accomodated on the board. They take different approaches to how they run their business. It's complicated because one of them is a founding father and co-owner of the site. As strained as things may or may not be between the dealers, it is often the members (myself included) who fuel the flames, sometimes innocently, maybe sometimes not. This poll does NOT help in my opinion.

Sorry to come off "preachy". Honestly that's not my style (I'm more of a smart-arse type), but I really think we should just all back off the jets on this one.

Well, it doesn't appear that it will be an issue anymore, anyway...since apparently Greg has been banned from the board and all of his posts have been deleted/removed.

As most have accurately stated that although appreciated, this doesn't help.

CWK2 hit the nail on the head above. We have no problem with a dealer posting a reference to a deal or something like that as long as it's occasionally. But using the OFC for a storefront, will not be tolerated. It is also accurate that there are MORE THAN TWO dealers on this site. Most seem to "get it" without it being spelled out, and I'm sorry. I'm not ready to taylor (excuse the pun) our user agreement to accomodate the lowest common denominator. This problem has existed with one person, and only one person not understanding, for too long. I should have acted sooner and I appologize for not doing so.
