I brought my Balladeer 1861 to my school today. I had to carry it through the crowded halls and found out that lifting the head of the case to my left hand about chest height got people out of my way ;) Anyway, it was a huge hit to the guitar kids. The sound beat out a 60's fender acoustic and some other kids Lyle I think it was. I also outplayed them all which was awesome.

Any "mushy love songs" I should learn to play to get the babes attention?

Anyway, just some good news as there isn't much here right now.

Girls love Beatles songs.

"I'll Have to Say I Love You With a Song" by Jim Croce. It will melt them. I'm surprised you don't already have too many girlfriends, 72tour. You were just a little too young for my daughter.

Wasn't that 19th? Or was that the demo version with all the foreshadowing?

I was joking but thanks, haha! You don't think Raining Blood by Slayer wouldbe a good choice then? ;)

I'll probably go for something Beatles, or If You Could Read My Mind by Lightfoot.... real sappy though.

:D You're genius! I had that as a passing thought once and totally forgot about that, thanks! I don't have a girlfriend probably because none of them know I play guitar, or maybe it's because all of them listen to Beyonce, not real music.

About your daughter.... it wouldn't have mattered if she was my exact same age. I've seen "Papa Bear" reaction before..... Hahaha!

Did I read that right? I seem to lose all sense of hearing when she's on TV.

It's like that scene from Wayne's World, whenever Wayne sees Tia Carrere with her bass guitar - the screen goes all soft focus, and "Dream weaver" plays right over whatever was happening before.

Back vaguely on the 'play this and they'll love ya' topic, how about "This Year's Love" by David Gray? Not sure if he's made it over to your big shores, but that's a top song.

72 - it can too be a Slayer song - as long as you are staring right into her eyes when you play it, the song is irrelevant!!

Dunno if this still works, but, write a song for her.

Back in the day....it didn't seem to matter that the song sucked and basicly just said "I want to get in your pants", it worked. 'Course, that WAS the 70's.

We've got a bloke down here called Kevin Bloody Wilson.

He's got a wonderfully moving ballad called "Do You #*&@ On First Dates?"

...maybe not.

I started learning guitar coz someone told me it would be a chick magnet.

I didn't realize at the time, but magnets repel as well as attract.

If you REALLY want to get lucky, learn how to ski and become a ski instructor. It worked for me and I'M VERY UGLY!

Come on, how about something easy like a Jimmy Buffet and the Coral Reefers tune? I suggest "Why Don't We Get Drunk And Scre?" Classic.

"...I just bought a water bed, filled up with Elmer's Glue..."
