This seems like a nice deal for a pretty guitar. Anyone have any experience with this model, and does the description (US made, foreign-'inlaid') sound accurate?

Greetings, Oddball~ I was at the factory in New Hartford in July, and saw them in their final assembly stages...seems like their pretty accuratley represented - would typically be a $1,000 guitar if the abalone were done in CT, etc., and are probably the equal to a Celebrity DeLuxe. When I asked my favorite factory guru who was affording me & my son the grand tour whether or not I should consider one- he said it would seem like an asian imposter based on my tastes - but would make a great disposable camp guitar...though he knows my tastes and certainly knows it would be hard to pick one up after playing an FD14...

All that being said - it probably is a great value considering the components and the 'bling factor'...perhaps someone can chime in who's actually played one!

All the best~

The last (and only) Ovation I bought from this seller was an FRG which they failed to mention in the selling (or pricing) process. If that's important to you I would ask them up front, else it looks like a nice guitar for a reasonable price.

I doubt you will find a better guitar for the money than this one. I like these a lot.

Questions I have:

-does it have a 2pc. mahog. neck, or a 1pc. nato neck?

-are those REAL pieces of Abalone, or is it a strip of faux Abalone?

-is that the same grade of Rosewood on the fingerboard that they have in Conn., or a lesser grade?

-is the neck-to-body joint the same CNC joint they make in Conn., or is it a glued-in joint like you get with Celebrities?

-Ping makes 2 different levels of tuners. I won't even ask the question; these are the lower-quality ones whereas Conn. uses the better ones.

These are items that lower the price of a guitar and can easily be passed off to customers looking for a low pricepoint guitar.
