Hello everyone. I was looking for info on how many of the eclipse were made and found your site.I grew up playing applause and ovations but the neck is really small and my hands are not,so I swithed. But this eclipse was available and I have been wanting a hollow body, its vintage and in great shape (original but maybe not for long),and its an ovation so how could I go wrong.Any info would be great. Thanks for the opportunity to join in your site.

Welcome diesel! I almost bought an eclipse recently, but restrained myself. You will find a plethora of knowledge here, some things you really wish you never knew too.... ;)

Welcome.
There weren't a ton of them made, mostly it was to use up the less than pretty wood.
I'd say leave it original, move on to something else if you decide you don't like it.

Thank you Mauvais for the welcoming. My only changes would be new knobs and pots. These are worn badly and the pots may or may not be salvagable but other than that I wouldnt mod any vintage guitar. But as far as liking it-- Its an Ovation!! Besides that, I have the I like'em all syndrome.

Well pots are necessary to make it work and knobs can always be changed back. Contact the factory for the pots and maybe a p/g.
Although I think those pots are part of apackage and not individual. change them anyway.

The pots have cleared up great after some compressed air. Neck tone has huge bass from 8-10. Running thru an acoustic amp and I like the sound. When I got this last night I ran it thru a Boss GT-8 w/Fender Hotrod, didnt sound right.I am going to run clean thru the fender later tonight.I can get a BB King sound but not Ted Nugent.Yet! Also M. Beal you are very knowledgable,It looks very(beyond

Beal pretty much grew up around Ovations. He's getting up there, though and sometimes suffers from CRS disease that some of us get when we hit 50.
