It needs some maintenance, but I think I've got it cheap. I've all parts for the perair at home, except of the hatch-door. Anybody out there who has one for me?? Bernie

Some years ago, I wanted a Book Elite more than anything else, and it was a time when nobody was parting with one. Then I found a member who had one that had never been played. The only problem is that he wanted over twice what they were selling for at the top end. I not only paid his price, I bought a another unplayed Guild archtop Starfire IV in maple from the same guy, although his price on this one was much more reasonable. When you have to have it, cost is secondary. Like Todd, I love my 1881. It is the reason I decided to have a custom 1187 slothead built in a SSB cutaway configuration, just like the 1881. Nothing beats a SSB for comfort. Enjoy it.

Does anybody know when they stopped putting the resonant/fundamental frequency on the label? It would be fun to see if that number remains fairly constant over time (yeah, I'm kinda geeky). Thanks for understanding, guys. Once I played an SSB I knew that was the one for me. And though I know I will love my redwood CL once Mother is done with him, the 1881 can go anywhere with much less fear of cracking the top. It's in transit now and I should have it on Monday...just in time for the Roadshow in Manchester, NH (at my home music store, no less!). I'm in the process of setting up acoustic jam nites at our yacht club (don't be impressed...it's 100 moorings, docks, an A-frame clubhouse and two outhouses). The 1881 should go from car to sailboat to campfire and be none the worse for wear. It's gonna be a fun summer.

Well, let's wait for it's arrival and when the maintenance is finished, I'll post some pics of her. But congrats to you for your new baby. I hope it is the thing you was looking for and you'll get very happy with it. I can't wait to read about your experiences with her here. Bernie
