Joined: June 2008 Posts: 17 Location: USA | I recently sold a nylon-string guitar to buy this USA-made Ovation Custom Elite C2078 LX (brand new) but my wife says she misses the nylon-string guitar! So in an effort to make her happy, I’ve decided to see if I can sell this guitar to get another nylon-string guitar. Really, I’d like to keep this guitar though, so if nobody buys it, all the better for me. :) But I’ll make my best effort to sell it… This Ovation Custom Elite has everything… OP Pro Studio preamp (Ovation’s best) that can be either phantom powered with an XLR cable or use a 9 volt battery and a standard 1/4 inch jack. The preamp is amazing… has a 3 band EQ, Volume control, bass exciter with a drive control as well as compression! I can actually play this guitar without all the pedals I normally need to make my R Taylor with and LR Baggs Element sound good. Ovations have always had a decent plugged in sound. The preamp even has a built-in tuner... very convenient. Being a Custom Elite, it has abalone inlays around the binding, abalone fretboard inlays, ebony fretboard and ebony bridge. The neck is a five-piece neck and the nut width is 1-11/16". The “epaulets” (the leaf patterns around the multi-sound holes are actually inlaid as well. Older Ovations simply had them glued to the top. Not this one. There are gold tuners with pearlized buttons. It also sports the new Contour body shape… deep but with a curve to make it easier to hold when sitting down. It is very comfortable really. The guitar does not slide out when sitting like the old Ovation guitars! And, the body is about 30% lighter in weight as well. Plus, it has the new LX scalloped bracing and lighter top… which makes the guitar sound incredibly good unplugged. It’s bright and airy (not unlike a Taylor) with decent bass response. I’m actually a bit sad to offer this for sale as it is one that sounds so much better than many other Ovations I’ve played and owned in the past. But if this sells, I’ll make my wife happy and buy a Nylon-stringed guitar again. I bought it new just about a month ago. The guitar comes with an Ovation case in near perfect condition, just like the guitar. I’d rate the overall condition of both the guitar and case at 9.8 out of 10 for both the case and the guitar. Being black, there are a few very minor and small scratches that are visible. Nearly no fretwear as it’s only been a month. The list price on these guitars are $2895… I’d like to get $995 plus $50 UPS ground shipping. It will be shipped with signature required, so be sure someone is home to sign for it. Sold only to the 48 contiguous states. Postal Money Order only on this one unless you’d like to pay for the PayPal. I need to sell this guitar in the next few days to get the guitar I’m looking at as a nylon. So if this doesn’t sell by December 10, I’ll pull the ad and keep it. No big deal if this doesn't sell as I'm very reluctant in giving this up... but I can't afford both, so it's one or the other. Here’s a link to the Ovation site describing the guitar. Please read it as it tells you more than I have here. The photos below are of the actual guitar being sold. The thumbpick you see hanging on the sixth string tuning peg is because I forgot to take it off when taking the photo. I find it easy to place my Fred Kelley speedpick there as it's always easy to find then. ;) http://www.ovationguitars.com/guitars/product/custom_elite_c2078lx ![]() | ||
