This is a complete recording solution for you. It includes the multi track software for composing your tunes, Lexicon's critically acclaimed Pantheon Reverb plugin and of course the unit itself.

I was gonna list the specs, but just check it out here...
Lexicon Omega specs

I did the first 2 songs on our demo completely with this interface. Then I picked up a Tascam FW1082 control surface that had the interface as well, so I don't need this anymore.

This thing is an interface for you and your instrument but it's also a midi interface so you can use keyboards, drum machines and other midi instruments and controllers with it.

$90 shipped

I have one of these and wanted to let anyone that might be thinking of grabbing this know...

These are really handy, even if you don't intend to use the the software that comes with it for recording.

I use mine as a desktop 'mini-mixer' just to have some control of the signal going into my B-system PC. It has a very small profile which is great for decluttering the desktop, plus it's surprisingly quiet (for a lower priced mixing device... very unlike, say... ahem... Behringer).

Check it out!!

USB out, correct?

Also, does it mix internally to two channels for output, or can each input be assigned to a different output channel?

I've got the Alpha version and like it a lot. If this unit will allow each input to go to it's own strip on the recording software, it would be a big temptation.

It allows each input to go into it's own strip.

For instance, I can record guitar with a line going into the Omega, and then I also have a mic going into another input. On my recording software I enable record on 2 different strips, set the inputs to match where I'm plugged into the Omega, and I'm recording 2 tracks at once. You can do more than 2, I'm just using this as an example. You can load up all the inputs at once if you want, and assign each to their own strip.

I recorded all the acoustic guitar early on when we just did our demos so it was before I had the control surface. I recorded all the acoustics as described above.

I don't know what the issues may be with a PC cuz I'm on a Mac, but on the Mac it's pretty much plug and play, both Garageband and Logic see it with no problems. I assume it would be easy on the PC as well. It's compatible on both, I've just never tried.

Damon, does it have phantom power to the XLR?

Yessir. I miced the acoustics with a Rode NT2, plugged into the Omega.

I'm going to have to think hard on this one. It would be nice to have, but the $ situation is tight.

The Alpha works great with a WinXP laptop, though it runs way better with ASIO4All drivers rather than the Lexicon drivers. The limitation with the Alpha is that it is only two channels, so only two inputs and two outputs. Sometimes it would be nice to have 4 channels, each going to its own strip.

Grif, if you're thinking about it, go for it. The sound quality of my Alpha is really good, and it is very simple to use.
