Location: East Wenatchee, WA | I was looking at the pics of the 1537. What causes the checking at the bridge? And I wasn't even aware the back was painted.
Mine has a couple very minor nicks in the area of the binding (actually would come out with some 600 grit paper I bet) and one large finish crack (about 8 inches), but I have not seen these other things yet. Guess I better keep an eye out.
They sure are a nice guitar, though, and your description gave me even more info than I had before.
Mine is now doing music twice a week at Church and practices in between, so it is seeing a lot more use than it was. |

I saw one once that had similar checking after one of the kids at church decided that the guitar case would make a nice trampoline to jump up and down on...unfortunately the guitar was in it at the time. Didn't crack the wood or do any serious damage but the coating was toast, probably didn't help that it was in the winter time as well, with low indoor humidity.
Cheers,
