I played a used Gibson Songwriter traveller yesterday. It's about as thin as a solid body electric and the same body size, more or less. Hollow with electrics. I didn't have a lot of time with it, but immediately wondered if Ovation ever made something like this. I believe Godin makes something similar and perhaps Line-6. It's significantly thinner than a shallow bowl Ovation.

I know there's an import traveller guitar. Trekker?

OT, I just played a CA Cargo yesterday, and WOW! I have never played a 3/4 scale with that sort of tone volume and clarity ever.

It's going to be something I'll have to look into getting eventually I think.

Y'mean one of these? [for $2600?]

Yeah... Ovation make the Viper [for $1700]

Your price may vary... I would hope cheaper for both, but those are 'new' prices.
As far as small body a/e guitars go, I had a Takamine EG561C with a teeny FXC body... It was a fine guitar that I got for less than $300 and sold for about the same (well, more really). It was fun for awhile, but it wasn't an Ovation. :(
I'm hooked for life, I guess

~I wasn't sure if you were referring to the AE ability or the size and acoustic ability...
I was thinking of the pre-amp and body size~

Ovation did make a backpacking guitar at one time, didn't they. I seem to recall seeing one up on e-bay a few months ago.

There is the Trekker, but it don't plug-in...
But I am sure that you could make one plug-in.

[Came with a backpack and a little folding stool]

Old Man Arthur has it with his first pic. It was used at a music shop for $1200. But playing it was really, really comfortable. Certainly not the sound of a larger body....but I've got my S771 for that. I don't quite know why they call it a traveler....

I'll definately start searching for a Viper. The Godins are probably the most often used ones I see....and they only come up now and then.

thanks, jack

I think this may be one of them....the description is "semi-hollow". At a local used instrument chain.

That is a CV Celebrity Viper... USA Vipers are designated EA68. (or EA63 for nylon, I think)
They have a 'Chambered' body. I don't own one or have any experience with them, so someone else would have to tell you if that is a good deal or not.(at $320 plus s/h)
Of course everyone will tell you that a US issue is better, and I would tend to agree.
[I sold all my Celebrity's]
But since it is at Daddy's and I think that they will ship it to a closer store for free for you, maybe they would move it so you could try it. I don't know their policy.

This is the one I was thinking of. Has anyone ever played one of these?
