Location: So Cal | Does anyone know what is used to attach an Adamas sound board to the bowl? I just received an 1881 that is loosing the bond between the carbon fiber face and bowl. I know the obvious suggestion would be to send it to the MS but I would prefer to not chance shipping this beauty all over the country. |

I was thinking super glue as well, but need to see exactly how it's separating. Get some pics to me and I'll fly them past John and Kim. But if the top is just a little separated from the suspension ring, then we should be golden. (I think.)
Nobody knows better than Beal about these, so I'm feeling much less stressed about this than I did five minutes ago. |

I would love if someone here would verify or improve what I'm going to type next, but it's how I would start.
If it looks as if the top has just separated from the ring, you may be able to lightly sand the surface of the ring and use a hobby brush to "paint" and light coating of 60-second super glue to it. Then seat the top and apply even pressure for more than the minute minimum. |

Location: So Cal | Thanks Patch. I've seen all those photos and am familiar with the top ring assembly. I just need to know which adhesive would be correct. I am thinking a slower cure two part epoxy or polyurethane. Does anyone know which type for sure? I personally have never had much luck with CA type adhesives.

The stuff they sell in the grocery store these days is watered down. Too many people glued their finger to their eyelid.
At Home Depot or a good hobby shop you should be able to get real CA that works. I recently glued the aluminum swoosh back to the top of my 2080 and the glue is quite strong and permanent. Reminded me of the old days with the original super glue where they advertised one drop would pick up a car. |

Location: So Cal | Thanks everyone. I will try the CA in one section. If it holds I will use it on the rest of the separation.
FlySig. You are 100% correct on the grocery store CA. I do a bit of woodwork (as a hobby) so I have a fresh bottle of LocTite precision max that should do the job. The problems I have had with CA in the past is the stuff seems to loose it's bond over time.

Now that I know that's squared away, I need to give John Budny a call. I didn't want to spend the money until I knew this was squared away, but he's got something of mine waiting to ship. ;)
