Location: Back in the Valley of the Sun Mesa Az. | Hey guys...a co-worker of a friend of mine has a Legend he bought in 1972...talking to him on the phone, he said he was ordering a Deluxe Balladeer, but that his friend at the music store convinced him to try this new model coming out called a Legend.
Anyways, he is thinking of selling...he said it is in very good condition (I have not seen it)...I believe he said it was a sunburst. He also had a thineline pick-up installed a few years back.
Is there anything particularly special about this year of production (he thinks it's the first year they came out). He doesn't know what it's worth...I am thinking maybe $250.00-$350.00 depending on condition, but I didn't say that to him in the event this is model might hold a higher value. Any ideas? Al, I am not fishing for a sale...just trying to help a guy figure out what he has...I am not selling or buying anything here.

Location: Huntington Beach | I just bought a "mint" '74 1117 and have had a '78 1617 since new. MHO the 70s are the best. Compared to the reissues there is just no comparison no matter what anyone says about the benefit of the newer A brace. But then every guit has to be judged individually. Its worth whatever you two agree on - - - . |

Location: Huntington Beach | Hey Norse - you have an 1117 - if its a '78 or older the '72 Legend will be very close to the same. |

Location: Chicago | Hey Norse, I put a pickup in my '74 Legend 1117 and play it every day, take it to every gig. There is no substitute for a 35-year old top! |

Location: Back in the Valley of the Sun Mesa Az. | I hear you...my 1117 is an 82 model...it sounds great...I use a Lawerence Soundhole pick-up...it doesn't sound so great...need to either put a good pick up in her, or just use a mic.
Norse(If this friend decides to sell his Legend, I'll ask him to post it here...with a price...I am looking for something a little different than what I already have)man1 |

Location: Chicago | So here's a formula for a 1117 that I am really pleased with:
Install a Fishman PreFix Pro system
and try with the new Fishman Reverb unit
I also add a Acoustic Xciter to fatten the bottom end. |
