Didn't want to hijack Damon's thread, so I started another with a similar title.

Yesterday, I watched a movie called 'The Guitar'. It was about a girl who was diagnosed with inoperable throat cancer. The doctor's diagnosis made her late for work and she got sacked. So she arranges to meet her boyfriend coz she needs to talk and before she can tell him what is happening, she gets dumped.

So she went out and bought, amongst other things, a red Fender Strat that she'd coveted since she was a small child and 4 (yeah, FOUR!!) Marshall stacks, effects pedals and 100 picks. Then the movie started getting interesting.

Here's the question. If you only had 1 month to live, with unlimited funds, what would you do?

Lets not get too bogged down and maudlin with deep and meaningfuls - try to keep it light hearted. And lets keep religion out of it.

Me?

I'd go and live on an island in Indonesia and surf perfect waves all day and play music all night.

I'd also try to get as much rumpy pump as my old body would allow...

If you only have a month to live you don't need unlimited funds. Just charge the living hell out of your credit card.

(1) The obvious -- make sure that things are ready for the kids...then
(2) Buy one of the guitars on the Wish List.
(3) Busk...did it only once before.
(4) Take it as a personal challenge to beat the inoperable thing. Certainly one of the ultimate challenges that life can throw at you. Hey, Neil Armstrong walked on the moon! Bet he never thought THAT was possible when he was a kid.

Eternity is Forever...

Guess that's lighthearted...

Death is certainly anything but maudlin, deep, and meaningful...

Ah Mike.... as muzza is the author of the topic and bears some responsibilty for it's content and direction, I'll support him in his effort to do so.
I suspect the pain in your neck has you in a reflective, sullen mood.

"There is a time for every purpose"... therefore, when appropriate, like on a goofy guitar forum... party on.
.
.
"rumpy hump"... a new favorite added to my vocabulary. It needs lyrics and chords.

I'd move to the Black Hills...oh wait, I already did that.

I'd open a music store...oh wait, I already did that.

I'd buy an OFCII guitar...oh wait, I already did that.

Um...I wouldn't change a thing. Well, except I'd abandon this diet and eat like there was no tomorrow.

I'd have a two week schedule to attend the "Going Six Feet Downunder" gathering with the Aussies, Jump over to France and see the "French Fries" live.

Lastly I'd post sticky notes on my guitars and post pictures on the Ning site so y'all can come by and claim your parting gifts!

Post-lastly, I'd ask to be cremated and have some of my ashes mixed into the epoxy used to hold the Abalone inlays on future Ovations so I could be with you all...

Sit on the beach in Barra de Navidad, drink beer, play guitar as the sun went down, and watch for the green flash.

Post up all my finished songs on the internet under the Nom de Plume Dead Man Singing.

Oh, and rumpy pump, definately rumpy pump.

That synopsis of the movie sounds exactly like a cancer commercial that runs out here.
(Don't know if it is a 'local-only' commercial for a cancer treatment center)
Basic drift of the commercial is about "Living with Cancer" as opposed to "Dying from Cancer"...

Anyway, there is a scene where this chick is coming home from therapy (with a doo-rag on her head) and she stops to look in the music store window...
Next scene she is coming out with a guitar and a bag of goodies.
She apparently believes NOW is as good a time as any to learn how to play the guitar.

[Kinda the reason I finally bought my first guitar... I ain't getting any younger]

I've changed my mind.

First, I'd fly to the States, break into Miles' house while he's logged in and moderating, tie him up (probably need help), delete the insufferable braindead thread, watch everyone's post count plummet, THEN go surfing.

I try to do that already. Alas, no unlimited funds, but death is just lurking behind us, waiting to grab our shoulders and say: "time to go!" (hey, if you turn around suddenly you can even see her shadow...).
So I´m trying to learn the guitar, trying to live fully, trying to sing in a choir and doing my best to avoid a warm reception on the afterlife...
