Location: Canada | I'v been looking at strats and G&L's and what not. I don't live in a place where I just go somwhere and see these things. I keep reading of neck radius, 9",12" etc. I think I understand what it is, just have nothing to go by.
I almost grabbed a commanche the weekend but I was afraid the 12" radius would be too big for my small hands.
Anyone know what radius my ovation is? 2078lx. |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | Newf, I don't understand how the size of your hand relates to fretboard radius.
The radius refers to the 'rise' in the center of the fingerboard, as opposed to a Flat classical neck.
Here are two explanations of Neck Radius...
One...
Two...
That being said... I think Ovations have 12" radius necks.
But someone will correct me if I am wrong.

If you're trying to determine how they'll fit your hand, pay attention to the nut-width also. A current stock 2078lx has a 1-11/16"(1.6875") neck width at the nut. For comparison, a current stock "American Standard Strat" has a 1.685 nut width. Pretty close. |

Location: Canada | thanks folks. I'm really at a disadvantage where I live with it being so small. Most stores here are afraid to carry the nicer guitars, and my injury prevents me from travelling any distance.
So I have to resort to the "internets" and reading a lot. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Describing neck profiles is a crap shoot. There are not hard definitions that relate words such as Soft C, Vintage Low Oval, etc. to physical dimensions. |

Really, REALLY REALLY kicking myself for not grabbing one of TWO on ebay last week for decent prices. I decided to be responsible and not buy them, take care of things first like my health and silly stuff like food. |
