I will be spending a lot of time at the NAMM show Thur-Sun. I enjoy listening to the music and checking out the gear. If anyone has any hot tips on performances or exhibits to check out please post them here.

My tips:

1. The Taylor room upstairs - they have downscaled in recent years but always have a good roster of performances - a good place to chill

2. The basement hall - small innovative upstarts and boutique instruments

3. Yamaha room at the Marriott - Stevie Wonder often shows at end of day Saturday for private demos

4. Breakfast sessions - at the Hilton - always interesting

5. Hi tech area near DIGI - software and recording demos and tips - Earth Wind and Fire used to perform at the M-Audio booth.

If anyone wants something looked at or a question asked of someone at the show - post it here. Making no promises but I'll see what I can do.

Go see Deke Dickerson's big shindig if you have a chance. My Mosrite was supposed to join the museum this year, but I can't make it.

There are NAMM events posted in the program and Upbeat Daily - there is usually a good band performing in the convention center lobby. Saw Brian Culbertson there a couple times sponsored by a piano manufacturer. Saw the Elton John tribute concert after the show at the Pond a few years back - with Ray Charle's last public appearance. Got tickets through Yamaha. Many, many, many sponsored by invite only and public pay events. Ask at the exhibitors.

Wishes? Yeah, I wish I could go. May make the Newport Guitar Fest in April though...
