I'm relatively new here, just picked up my second Ovation - 1621-4, Artist / Balladeer I believe. My other Ovation is a 1121.
People keep telling me Ovations suck ... I don't know why but man, I really like they way they sound, play and record.
Despite being nearly identical in build, they sound quite different with the same strings. The natural top one has a more well rounded tone, mid-range comes out nicely. The Tobacco-burst one definately has a brighter tone.
Question for those in the know: is that Ovation logo gold-leaf?

I do gold leaf on occasion and the headstock logo looks to me like the same thing (covered with laquer) |

One with 5 piece neck with truss rod and
a later one with 2(?) piece neck with K-bar? |
