So here's my musical hi-lites for 2009. Amelia: 1) Even if I didn't play a single note it was worth it just to listen to the talent in that crowd. 2) Sharing a stage with Matt Smith. And at another time, with Temp & StephenT. 3) Just the thought of being part of that Monkees thing that Dave put together will forever put a smile on my face. Back on the horse: After the train wreck we found the courage to get back up and the same stage. 1st time busking: It was fun. I still have the dollar bill and two quarters in my case. I'd like to do it again during some kind of event. I'd put a jug out for the fire departments Christmas toy fund. Summer Marina Jam: A perfect jam. Egos checked at the dock, knowledge and advise feely given and received. A number of good songs coming together. Even some that a few years ago we passed on thinking that we could never pull it off. What about you?

I'm tired. | ||

I got plenty of Porsche fix, but thought I might meet some of our German OFC friends. Karl (Charlie Ramon) was in the lobby when we got to Rothenburg with a couple of Adamas. The hotel stuck us in the empty bar, where we played and sang 60s, 70s and a few newer songs for 4 hours along with most of the people on our tour. Second would be a quick trip to Denver to meet up with Professor and T28, returning with Stephen's #47 RI.

Then all the rest that were equally a thrill....... Jamming with DeBanjo, Temp, Beal, Matt, Dave, Al, Brad, Cliff, John, Bobbo and everybody else I hung out with. Playing cajons while sitting between the dueling blazing guitars of Davis and Matt at O'Kanes......man what a stereo sound that was...to die for! Bobbo coming out the Denver Mark from Boise coming out to Denver Serge coming out to Denver Starting to put some concentrated effort into my home recordings. Trying to learn new songs with the intent to go out with Lia and play a few open mics. Bought a few GREAT GUITARS...sold a few GREAT GUITARS. Made a few new friends along the way.

(For some of you, I know that's just a walk in the park, but for me, more like scaling Mt. Washington one inch at a time.) And still love my Parlor, the sweet Princess...what a fabulous little guitar. A joy to play. --Karen

Joined: March 2005 Posts: 5567 Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | Decided to settle on the "less is more" approach to my guitars: sold quite a few to get the few I really wanted: as a result, through some incredible good fortune and the generosity of several members, I have two sets of twin Adamas 6 and 12's including the '78 -8's... also the OFC II which is incredible...and added several outstanding wood boxes as well... I wrote several new tunes; gave a few concerts; was able to attend the Smokey Jam III for the day and had a blast. Hooked up with TnT at his home and that led to the OFC II... my home studio was improved greatly and I am looking forward to spending a lot of time in it in the coming year. All in all, it was a stellar year musically with many surprises... I have to say, I really enjoy the friends on the forum and the opportunity to share my love for Ovation and Adamas instruments. Happy New Year to all!!!

The music was incredible,from the talents of WarEagle and his Dad, Otto, and others to Iffy and I playing "Norwegian Wood". One special weekend! Now, will there be any in 2010? I can only hope! :) Right up there with SSSJ is meeting and getting to know many members here, either in person, by phone or E.M.

Had a really great concert with the first. Learned with the second that no matter how good a band member is sober, too much alcohol kills the whole band. With the third, I don't know what I learned but it was fun while it lasted. Got much better at mixing and recording at home. Next year is indeed "The Big One". Hopefully mostly in a good way.

A high point was recording a demo in March at the lakeside Stella Maris Chapel which now forms the basis of our MySpace as we crawl toward doing a 'real' CD. Heart-felt thanks to those who requested a copy and then embarrassed me with over-the-top feedback. Thanks to Joe, we played a few middle-school assembly concerts: it is a FANTASTIC thing to bring the music to a crowd of iPOD-LadyGaga kids. The last one we did got a rousing response. I think we should rename to be the Jazz Apostles!

One of the best things that happened to me was about a few weeks ago, when I was actually able to notice my playing really progress along quite nicely. I still have a long road ahead of me, but now I feel that there is quite a road behind me too. Michelle
