I see the ads for the tusq stuff all over the place any body perfer them over the Bone? IF I have any Christmas money left over that will be the next thing on my list.

I have not been able to compare to bone yet, but it has been said that bone is not as hard and therefore is prone to soft spots that affect consistency in tone. That is what I have read in the reviews, but I am by no means an expert on that. You may want to post that question on a classical guitar forum board.

So, if the bone comes from older cows is it less dense? Now, petrified cow bone is another 'nut' altogether...

Matter-o-fact, the slim-line type of Ovation saddles are a weird size, so you gotta match them up in person, y'know? I have used a Tusq saddle that is an 8th of an inch short (Lengthwise) and it works. It just don't look perfect. Also in my CK047-Koa I have a bone saddle that is also about an 8th of an inch too short (Lengthwise) But I increased the volume of the guitar dramatically. On evilBay I bought four bone nuts and four compensated bone saddles for about $16 from China. They were listed as being for Martin, but I was just going by the length and width and such. I put one nut on that Epi LP Special to replace the crappy black plastic that chipped. And on saddle in the CK047. And they work fine, and the price is right. For $2 apiece, you can trash them if you don't like one. Just wanted to share that.
