When I was a very, VERY young girl, my siblings and I used to sing this in when playing. I used to do the solo, lol ... I still love this song! I would like to request this song someday when I get to attend a get-together with all you geetar players ... who'll play the harmonica?

The FIRST Deep Purple

Enjoy!

;)

We listened to a LOT of different music thanks to my mother. She used to force feed us all kinds of music, every day. This was one that we just couldn't escape. I think she played till it was worn out.

Yeah, and one more "49" fer sure. :p

Hello Willa,
Thank you so much for that memory.
"Sigh...aye...aye...aye"
My mother was very musical too, music around us all day long. She loved music...

I liked the song in that my parents listened to Artie Shaw's version, but this was a 'pop' song.

I remember it well. Nino and April were brother and sister.

Trivia - According to Wikipedia... The B side of this record was:
"I've Been Carrying A Torch For You So Long That I Burned A Great Big Hole In My Heart".

This has the distinction of being the longest title on the flip side of a Billboard #1 record.

It's not so much what I remember, it's what I'm willing to admit to remembering! ;) :D

I heard it on the radio in the '70s with Marie and Donny. When, some time ago, I was preparing an arrangement of the song I was unable to find it with them. The Stevens/Tempo seems more popular and easier to find. I dont think the Osmond recording was that different except for some additional sweetness - even if the Stevens/Tempo recording has plenty of that already.

tpa,

I haven't heard the Osmond's version of it, and frankly, don't care to ... I just remember being very young and Mom dancing and singing to it when she was vacuuming or doing laundry. She liked the Doors & the Rolling Stones, too, haha. She had SO many vinyl albums and records ... and still Does! Most of her taste was good, but some of it was awful, like Slim Whitman for example ... geez. That one song by him, "Indian Love Call" blows up Martian heads ~ remember "Mars Attacks?" ...

Did this for shock value. You guy's were sleeping there a little.

Let it run for a while...(as long as you can stand it)....after you get over the first vocal impression it makes you laugh the more you watch.!!!!
Enjoy..........and wake up!!!!!!!! Cookie Monster is here and he's the new lead vocalist.
