Location: Ottawa, Canada | My O has the urethane finished neck and it is recommended to wax the neck periodically. Should I be doing this? I love the natural feel of the neck now. Will waxing it change the color or feel of the neck? How often should I be doing this? |

| I personally don't like the feel of wax on a neck. Unless you use a wax with a really high melting temp like carnauba, most waxes start feeling sticky after a bit just from the warmth of your hand and the friction as you slide your hand up and down the neck.
If you keep the guitar properly humidified it shouldn't be a problem. Plus, the natural oils from your hand will condition & "polish" the wood - as long as you play it often. If the wood starts to look dry you can rub in a penetrating oil like almond oil, boiled linseed oil, or Fret Doctor . Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it. |

Location: Ottawa, Canada | Thanks for that. I didn't like the waxing idea and I love the feel of the neck the way it is! |

Location: Central Oregon | I've used Turtle Wax on several of my natural finish O necks. They look the same & just feel a little slicker for a while. I haven't waxed one in years & it doesn't seem to make any noticable difference, although the owners manual says to wax 'em from time to time. Maybe I'll make a News Years resolution to wax my guitar necks sometime in 2010. Or not. |
