Its been awhile since we had an update on our gig gear. What are you using for your gigs these days?

For me, 74% of my gigs are with the Adamas 1881, Tak EF75, VXT or the EA68 Viper in that order. The other 26% involve many others. My rehearsal guitar is a 1567 Legend SSB that also serves as my on-location back-up guitar. My monitor is a Genz Shenendoah Jr through a custom pedal board. I also use a Genz Acoustic Pro or a Deluxe Reverb at other locations, and I will occasionally swap out the Deluxe Reverb with a Two-Tone Blues Junior. How ‘bout you?

Plugging in? 87C (w/ Op Pro) or Adamas I 12. Acoustic only, toss the rebuilt Legend into the equation --- any one of the three....

Restaurant/bar / lower volume indoor events: Blackie 1778T through Bose L1 (without the bass module). Blackie is the warmest T I've laid hands on.

Sports bar / large / outdoor events: Rosalita (Lusty Red) 1778T through Bose L1 (with bass module). Rosie is the bassiest and brightest at the same time.

Studio recording: Sweet P (1778T Sweet T Prototype) through Zoom MRS1266. Sweet P (a.k.a. the Black Pearl) has a less bassy unique tone due to her koa inlay, perfect for recording.

Yes, each 1778T is assigned to the venue according to its tone.

I'm with Mr. Beal.

Never having been a gear hound, for most gigs I plug an SM-58 and one of my Ovations into a Carvin powered mixer which drives one 12 w/horn. I keep that speaker above and behind me. If I generate feedback, I'm too loud.

No siginificant processing; if I can't present a song with just my guitar and voice and keep the audience interested, I don't belong there.

Sunday church my Adamas or my Tele. into a Fender Acoustasonic or a Vox DA20. Now for open mics my Adamas or a Washburn D10SCEDL.
Thats my story and I'm sticking with it.

Well said. Probably why I don't do any serious gigging.....

That and some songs require the elusive 4th chord!

What 4th chord? There's a 4th chord? That's a myth created by Clifford to sow controversy......

I decided to start learning more chords about 4 years ago when the picture of my book from church, "3 Chord Conversions" was posted by Noah when I got my 87C. Since then I've been working hard and am now working on my 5th chord....

Jeff (Elite & 1769) and I (1117 & 1581) plug into the Bose L1; HOWEVER, we always place the small Fishman Loudbox 100 near us for "monitor mojo": When playing a club that has a good PA and sound-man, we skip the Bose but tend to retain the Fishman (nothing is worse than a retarded sound-man who tweaks your monitor midstream--this gives us a little control, always). Jeff's guitar goes through a vintage Alesis reverb, a Boss chorus and the Roland Synth. I patch my Legend through the new Fishman Reverb and the Aphex Acoustic Xciter. That's it!

Gotta say, I've never had such consistently good sound as with the Aphex plus Fishman Reverb. The latter is expensive but SUBLIME, worth every penny.
