Then brad comes along with his post and I couldn't stand it any longer...I just ordered the Sweetwater version! It wasn't just the guitar. There's a strange sense of who knows what's gonna happen to the factory from this point. Also, I'm selling off my Adamas 1685, and I know that a guitar of that caliber is not ever likely to be a financial possibility again. I think this T may be 90% of THAT sound and, gosh, you'll NEVER get a USA Ovation for $650 ever again. Where were you when I needed an intervention? John <>{

The factory thing was also a factor. But it's not very logical. There are a ba-zillion USA EliteTs out there already that will someday find their way to ebay. I do realize that logic was a very, very minor player in this whole deal. It was the classic impluse purchase at its glorious & orgasmic best.

She's retiring in 16 months, and we've been seriously trying to figure out how to live on HALF the $$$ that we've gotten used to. We don't ever do things...anything...wothout consulting each other. There's this sense that I've cheated on her. Not that I haven't done this sort of thing before. Always with guitars. Back in '98 I bought a Custom Elite while Maryanne was in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery. We referred to it as the "Cancer Guitar". "I am so ashamed".

I had a Balladeer Special for 2 years, then traded up to a T. I figure I'll play it for 3 years and trade up to an Adamas, but who knows?

I don't want to have more guitars around than I can pay some attenion to. Five seems to be the magic number. Well... four really. I don't play my Breadwinner very much at all. But it ain't goin' nowhere.

In '70 I bought an $80 MacGreger CG2 ball glove. That was a 'ton' of money for a GI. On the way home I also bought a dozen roses for my bride. The roses did buffer her response somewhat. ![]() It's easier to ask forgiveness rather than permission; although not cheaper! ![]()

Just by hanging out with you guys that buy and sell daily, I've got the wife just this side of, well, I'd say pill-popping but she's a yoga girl so I can see that I would buy another guitar and she'd book a trip to Tibet. Hey.....(hmmmmm.....)

I will note that I'm at home while she is O.O.Town for a few days and all that I'm excited about is being able to eat what I want and to play in ANY room at ANY volume!!! :D I don't hang in bars, gamble (commuting don't count) or run off with secretaries. I am d-O-mess-tic-ated! Is this how Unca Beal feels all of the time?

We referred to it as the "Cancer Guitar". "I am so ashamed". I was brand new here.. and saw my first 1619, and others I can't even remember now..., and the white Elite that guigite now owns... but as I was enjoying myself and grinning and picking with a new friend, 3 children died up here, one barely got away alive, and my daughter, had she been in the car with them, as they were running around, and went cruising till she got off of work.... was almost in the suv with them that night... or not, and had she got off on time... they went out there after her new manager told them it was gonna be a while, maybe it wouldn't have happened had she gone with them, maybe not, too scary to dwell on.. the guitar 1758-1 was gorgeous and sang as loud and clear as they come, but too much sadness attached. Jeremy, Autumn, and Superman(Mike)... we miss you. Glenn
