I have a feeling this guy could make a brick sound good. Click here .

These are interesting guitars. I found a bunch of them at Daddy's Junky Music in Mass., and they were fun to play with. The brand was Dell'Arte. These are called Selmer-style guitars, and I gather that the most obvious difference is the small sound hole.

My questions: (1) What is the supposed advantage of this different construction, and (2) did Ovation ever make anything like this, and (3) if not, why not? and (4) what are the other differences between these and NON-Selmer-type guitars?

Thanks, Beal. Will do.

I did come across Jorgenson when looking on YouTube for other Selmer players.

Time to do a little more studying and a little less listening!

Did Ovation ever put out one like this?

Or he could make a good guitar sound like a brick. No matter, I think a lot of these guitars sound like bricks anyway.

Try
Stephane Grapelli
and
Bireli Lagrene

I really LOVE the progression Stochelo plays in this video (yeah the tone is dry, but that's the Gypsy sound). It's a fine workout on chords close-packed in different inversions: very similar actually to McLaughlin's concept for "Guardian Angel"-- you should look at that tune Alan! Here's a sweet and slow version, lesson-style....

Unless it's a photo shopped pic, Ovation did build a Django type guitar. I've got the photo, but don't know the story.....
