Stuck some Elixirs on there and just blown away by it's volume, presence, tone, clarity, woodyness fullness, goodness, greatness, awesomeness. Built like a tank! What a guitar! Looks pretty sexy too. Will be re-recording Natsuhiboshi on this. Decided to part with the 06C too, lovely looks but for me the recorded tone is not what I'm after and need to make room for some others

I drooled over the various Ovations/Adamas guitars and was lucky enough to own them. Then I got down to playing and recording them and to my surprise what I thought initially were my perfect guitars turned out not to be so perfect afterall. That's not to say they aren't GREAT guitars but for me didn't fit my style or the things I'm playing on them at the moment. Aw Dweezil... Your collection of Collectors' is dwindling! I'm really not into collecting for collecting sake, they have to earn their place in the harem as there are many other worthy contenders out there. Some are real diamonds for me and can hold their own against anything else and are keepers (for example the 1537). So although the 06C and 1537 are very different, realistically I know that 99 times out of a 100 I would play the 1537 so the 06C has to make room for something else. In an ideal world I would keep them all but space, time and money (oh and SWMBO) doesn't allow for it. As I develop I seem to be more and more critical or perhaps more aware of what I like in a guitar and with regard to the 06C whilst it scores very high on most fronts it doesn't quite cut it for me in the tone department and tone is king. It's more than likely that the 97C will go to the same way as will the 1763. At the moment the only real keepers as I see it are the 1537, 1758, 07C and FD14. Still not bad eh? It's worth noting that there are still a few Os/As I've yet to try but the list is getting pretty short.

"You just sold the ________? Didn't you just get that?" Uh... No. I've played it for a year, now someone else is playing it! (But I've got another one coming in the mail! :p ) But you did have most of the Collectors' there, for a moment!

If tone is king for you, then the book and the 87C (and the 1537) will fight each other tooth and nail for the crown. There! See? That helps you decide right? :p

Most "martin like" of any ovation. Yet the neck was a big turn off and the electronics were sketchy at best. Has anyone here had a custom built to mimic the 1537 especially the plywood facing under the soundboard? That might be a fantastic guitar with an LX neck on it. There was talk about a 25th anniversary reissue last year but looks like the factory has focussed on Guild instead. So what are some of the reasons people like them?

It's stunning to look at. It does start to weigh you down after a bit. It's got to be the heaviest acoustic I've ever owned. ![]()

But I also think i'd like to send her in and have one of those carved bridges installed, and a black saddle and nut. I have always wondered why they are so heavy?
